A Church That Serves
We not only try to help those who are within the walls of Mount Olive, but we see it fit that we stretch out a helping hand to those in need else where. We are currently working with two Nursing Homes where we reach out the residents to offer prayer and comfort. They include the Ruby Weston Manor at 2237 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn NY. 11207, and the Marcus Garvey Nursing Home located at 810 Saint Marks Avenue, Brooklyn NY, 11213.
The saints who are part of this Nursing Home Ministry work diligently every month to uplift the spirits of the residents who are unable to make it out to their home church each week. We are also currently working on a new and upcoming Shelter Ministry, where the saints of Mount Olive will be reaching out to two Shelters to offer help to those in need. We will be working along the sides of Help USA Brownsville Women's Center at 357 Saratoga Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11233 and Urban Strategies, Inc. Dean Street Family Residence located at 2155 Dean Street, Brooklyn NY. 11233.
Our goal is to enrich the lives of the residents of both the Nursing Homes as well as the Shelters, so that they will be blessed both physically, mentally, and spiritually. Proverbs 19:17 tells us that "He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done." We also see in 1 John 3:17-19 that "If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with action and in truth. This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence, whenever our hearts condemn us."
There are many more scriptures in the Bible that urges us to help those in need, whether it's financially, mentally, emotionally, physically or spiritually-that by doing so, we are not only being a blessing to those whom we give to, but we are also pleasing the Lord himself. Please keep the workers of this ministry in your prayers, as well as the residents to whom they reach out to. Thank you for your support.
